In Memory of Nancy F. Jehl

Nancy JehlNancy F. Jehl
Born: June 7, 1951, in Wilmington, Delaware, Nancy Eileen Fontana, daughter to the late Idella L. Fontana and Lawrence E Fontana, Sr, surrounded by her loving family, left our side to return home with the Lord, on March 8th, 2015. Nancy is survived by her husband Eugene R. Jehl, Jr , her brother Lawrence E. Fontana, Jr. and wife Elenore J. Fontana, and her brother William J Fnntana and wife Lisa M. Fontana. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Nancy graduated St. Hedwigs High School in 1969. Directly out of high school Nancy began a 45 year career with the DuPont Company, where she worked for both Agricultural Products and DuPont Protection Technologies. During her career with DuPont, Nancy made many contributions towards the success of the groups and businesses with whom she worked; her expertise and skills were highly valued by senior leadership.

While working at DulPont she decided to return to school and in 2006 she graduated from Neumann University with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies. Although she approached her work career with dedication and commitment, her true passion was ice skating. Nancy began ice skating in her early twenties. Her love of ice skating spanned 40 plus years, with a focus on “Dance”. She completed Dance level testing through “Pre-Golds” and began working on her “Golds”; she also completed her Bronze Free Style medals. Nancy competed at the US Adult National Championships at Lake Placid, in the late 1990’s. She was a long-time member of the Skating Club of Wilmington where she trained, became a member of the “Delaware Diamonds Synchronized Skating” team, and participated in many of the club’s Ice Skating Shows. She became a respected, International Dance Judge for Silver Free-Style Singles and Pairs and judged many competitions up and down the east coast. She also coached and taught ice skating to many of the younger skaters eager to begin a career in ice skating as she had done herself. After her husband Gene retired, they both decided to move to North Carolina to enjoy warmer climates and the slow paced living of the South. She loved attending many of the local festivals, shopping, as well as traveling with friends and family. As a wife, sister, sister-in-law, cousin, aunt, and friend — she will forever remain in our hearts and be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Skating Club of Wilmington, 1301 Carruthers Lane, Wilmington, DE 19803. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 13th at 11:30 am at St. Margaret of Scotland Church 2431 Frazer Rd. Newark, DE. where friends and family may call after 10 am. Interment will follow Mass in Cathedral Cemetery at 1:15 pm.
